Your Guide to the Different Types of Energy Hazards
A hazard can be defined as anything that has the potential to cause serious injury and even death, especially when combined with an acidic or volatile stimulus. It is also important to note that hazard accidents cannot occur without the presence of some form of hazardous “energy”. Hence, present below is a list of the different types of energy hazards:

Electrical energy hazards: There are primarily two types of electrical hazards, they are, low voltage hazards (below 440 volts) and high voltage electrical hazards (above 440 volts).


Mechanical energy hazards: Such hazards are associated with components that move in circular, transverse or reciprocating motions. Traditionally, such hazards are found in typical industrial machinery sites.


Kinetic energy hazards: These hazards are generally associated with the collision of objects in relative motion to each other. For instance, falling objects, flying objects and flying particles.


Chemical energy hazards: These hazards generally take place in the presence of highly corrosive, flammable, reactive and toxic substances.


Potential energy hazards: These are basically stored energy hazards. For instance, these types of hazards generally occur when things are either under pressure or tension.


Thermal energy hazards: These hazards traditionally involve things that are associated with extreme or excessive heat, extreme cold, sources of flame ignition, flame propagation, and heat related explosions.
Overall, understanding and being able to identify various hazards will only emphasize our commitment towards safety.
